OUR WELL-BEING EVENTS 2024
Greetings and a warm welcome to Green Connection, proudly presented by Wirral Forest: wellbeing Community Interest Company (CIC).
Our mission is to support individuals in managing stress and mental health through immersive nature experiences, harnessing the transformative power of the outdoors to enhance well-being. Wirral Forest: wellbeing constantly adapts to the needs of local communities, but our core message remains focused on nature connection, slowing down, encouraging self-care, and the five ways to well-being.
We began with the idea of using stand up paddleboarding as a well-being activity because it fosters the five ways to well-being. However, it soon became apparent that our communities needed broader support. We adapted our approach and started working alongside Involve Northwest, participating in their Connect Us community door knocks. This initiative led to numerous connections within our communities, including Households Into Work, part of the Merseyside regional authority. They required a central place where individuals could come to deal with anxiety, stress, and isolation, and to build a safe space.
We are like a kitchen pot – there for people when they need us. We are compassionate, inclusive of all, and non-judgemental, providing a sanctuary where individuals can find solace in nature and connect with like-minded people.
Seal watching experience on Hilbre island. Come along and see Merseyside's only resident colony. Qualified guides. Moderate paced walk.
Summer

The seal colony next to Hilbre island has been growing since the Second World War. At their peak each year, there are up to 800 Atlantic grey seals. However, we cannot guarantee that we will see them close to the island. As with all nature experiences, we need to walk without expectations and see what surprises nature can provide.
These experiences are all planned to start four hours before high water, which gives time to get there and back before it is necessary to leave before this tide. The walk is for individuals capable of a three-hour moderately paced Sunday walk, and you must be aware that is can be slippery and uneven underfoot on the island.

As the seasons transition from early Autumn to the heart of Spring, join us in resetting and rejuvenating amidst nature’s soothing allure. Our programs offer practical activities that foster a profound connection with the natural world – a perfect antidote to a busy work week.
In collaboration with local social connectors, we identified a pressing need for green connection on the Wirral. To meet this need, we offer:
Our experienced guide has explored nature therapy sites across England, the Midwestern United States, and Japan. Inspired by Forest Bathing, we offer an experience that awakens your senses to the healing qualities of the natural world, known as attention restoration therapy.
Our walks uplift your mood, sharpen clarity of thought, and boost your immune and cardiovascular systems. Our approach aligns with the five ways to well-being: connecting with participants and nature, being active, staying mindfully present, nurturing curiosity, and envisioning a future where these benefits extend to others.
After scheduling your event with us, participation is straightforward – wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and attire suited to the day's weather conditions. Events proceed rain or shine, although high winds may cause cancellations.
If you're ready to experience the rewards of green connection, including physical and psychological rejuvenation, or if you're curious to learn more, join us for one of our events. Experience how Green Connection can enhance your well-being and guide you towards a harmonious relationship with nature. Reserve your spot now.
We eagerly anticipate sharing these transformative moments with you. For more information and updates, please like and follow our Facebook page 'Wirral Forest CIC.'

It will be necessary for all participants to wear wellies or sensible shoes, have access to waterproofs and have sufficient drinks and snacks during the experience (we do not supply these). The weather can be very changeable and if inclement the activity will be postponed or cut short at the discretion of the group leader.
Can I bring my dog? Dogs are allowed on the islands if they are on a leash. However, the well-being events are quiet and mindful, so we need to respect the need of the others in the group.
