OUR WELL-BEING EVENTS 2024
Walk, Connect, Thrive with Wirral Forest: Wellbeing
Welcome to Green Connection, proudly brought to you by Wirral Forest: Wellbeing, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to harnessing the power of nature to improve mental and physical well-being.
We support individuals facing stress, anxiety, and isolation by creating welcoming, nature-based spaces where they can slow down, reconnect, and regain confidence. Our approach is rooted in compassion, self-care, and the Five Ways to Well-Being, ensuring that everyone who walks with us feels valued and supported.
Our journey began with stand-up paddleboarding as a well-being activity, but it quickly became clear that our communities needed more. We expanded our focus, partnering with Involve Northwest and participating in Connect Us door-knocking campaigns, which led to meaningful connections with individuals and organisations like Households Into Work. Together, we’ve created safe spaces for people to manage stress, build resilience, and find community through nature.
Like a well-loved kitchen pot, we are here when people need us—offering warmth, comfort, and a space to belong. Our walks provide an inclusive and non-judgmental environment where people can pause, connect, and thrive through nature and shared experience.
Let’s walk this path together
Join us for a guided nature experience like no other—a chance to see Merseyside’s only resident seal colony while exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Hilbre Island. Led by qualified, knowledgeable guides, these walks are a perfect way to unwind, connect with nature, and experience the magic of the Wirral coastline.
The Atlantic grey seal colony near Hilbre has been growing since the Second World War, with numbers peaking at around 800 seals each year. While we can’t guarantee close-up sightings, part of the joy of nature is embracing the unexpected—walking without expectations and appreciating whatever the wild has to offer.

🚶 Moderate-Paced Walk – Suitable for those comfortable with a three-hour Sunday walk over uneven, sometimes slippery terrain.
🌊 Tide-Aware Planning – Walks start three hours after high water, ensuring safe passage to and from the island.
By joining this experience, you’re not just enjoying a unique coastal adventure—you’re helping us sustain our free well-being walks and making nature more accessible to those in need. Your support allows us to continue our mission of helping people walk, connect, and thrive.
Step away from the everyday, breathe in the sea air, and let nature surprise you. We’d love to have you along!
Step away from the demands of daily life and immerse yourself in the restorative power of nature. At Wirral Forest: Wellbeing, we create spaces where people can slow down, reconnect with the outdoors, and find balance through guided nature experiences.
As the seasons shift from autumn to spring, nature invites us to reset, recharge, and embrace its calming presence. Our guided walks and experiences offer a gentle, mindful way to reconnect, making them the perfect antidote to modern-day stress.
We’ve worked with local community groups and social connectors to understand the need for meaningful outdoor connection across the Wirral. In response, we offer:
🌳 Weekly Well-Being Walks – Find peace, connection, and camaraderie with a welcoming community of nature enthusiasts.
🌊 Weekend Blue Connection: Hilbre Island Excursion – A guided journey to one of the most serene and wild places on the Wirral, where the sea and sky meet to create a profoundly restorative experience.
🚶♀️ Free Community Walks in Birkenhead Park, Prenton Dell, and Rock Ferry – Gentle, accessible walks that provide a safe space for relaxation, conversation, and connection with nature.
Our experienced nature therapy guide has explored healing landscapes across England, Japan, and the U.S. Inspired by Forest Bathing and Attention Restoration Therapy, our walks are designed to help you awaken your senses, reduce stress, and improve well-being.
Our approach aligns with proven well-being principles, ensuring every walk fosters:
🤝 Connection – With nature and a supportive community
🏃 Activity – Gentle movement that nurtures physical and mental well-being
👀 Awareness – Mindful moments that help you slow down and feel present
🌱 Curiosity – A fresh perspective on the natural world around you
💬 Kindness – A space for listening, sharing, and supporting one another
Joining us is simple—just wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Walks take place rain or shine, though high winds may cause cancellations.
If you're looking for a way to de-stress, re-energize, and reconnect, we’d love to welcome you. Experience the power of nature to heal, uplift, and inspire—one step at a time.

It will be necessary for all participants to wear wellies or sensible shoes, have access to waterproofs and have sufficient drinks and snacks during the experience (we do not supply these). The weather can be very changeable and if inclement the activity will be postponed or cut short at the discretion of the group leader.
Can I bring my dog? Dogs are allowed on the islands if they are on a leash. However, the well-being events are quiet and mindful, so we need to respect the need of the others in the group.
